WAR!!!! Sinead Against the Machine!

To me this is one of the most notable acts of personal revolution of the past 20 years. The setup: 3 October 1992, Sinead, a few candles, a microphone,a picture of the pope, an audience of 100 million, and one rip heard around the world. In this moment, the pop startlet rebelled against the hand that fed her and instead of playing into the status quo, she stood up for what she believed in. some say she's crazy, some say she's a genius. . . I say she's a revolutionary. check out the link to see the shit hit the fan.

It's About Time (and space)

Remember when M.I.A retired? I do. In fact, it was one of the singular worst days of my life. I'm exaggerating, but the point is I was pissed. But then she came back and all was good. Paper Planes became a Top 10 hit. She had a legendary Grammy performance, and became hands down the most gangsta pregnant chick the game has seen since Nenah Cherry, got married, then disappeared. I spent the last 10 months or so wondering if Miss I.A had decided to renege on her comeback. Then today i discovered her new song, off her new upcoming album. The new single is called Space Odyssy, and so far it seems pretty hot, it may have to grow on me, but i'm so hype for the new LP, I hope its not too spacey, we all know the outerspace album is usually the beginning of the creative end.

Sade Countdown (Day 15)

Sade Adu and the Crew will be releasing their much-anticipated overdue follow-up to their 2001 hit album "Lover's Rock" on February 9, and I can't fucking wait. While I'll be the first to admit I really wasn't crazy about Lover's Rock (it was a little mellow for me) I am a life-long lover of Sade's ice cool, that comes in like a December frost, then just when your about to die due to hypothermia, she rushes in with a warmth that melts your soul(its a adrenaline rush.) So my point 15 days until (don..don..DON) THE RETURN!

Florence + the Machine

Florence + the Machine's Florence Welsh is not an Amy Winehouse rip-off. She may be a whimsical Brit with a soul power voice and provocative lyrics, but unlike Adele,Kate Nash, Lily Allen,Pixie Lott and Duffy, Welsh is armed with an essential element that separates the girlies from the divas, she has something to say worth saying and she uses a vocabulary and style all her own to express her beautiful, often ethereal, musical stances.

On her debut LP, Lungs, Welsh's voice flowers and flows over her busy, bluesy arrangements. Her voice, one part Annie Lennox on part Kate Bush, proves to be perhaps the albums biggest revelation. She's able to be simultaneously sweet and sour, creating a sound that's as serious as it is coquettish. On "I'm Not Calling You a Liar" lyric's such as "I'm not calling you a ghost, but stop haunting me" signifies her lyrical brightness and her dedication to macabre. This theme is continued in songs like "Girl with One Eye" and "My Boy Builds Coffins". But with Welsh these themes don't seem nearly as much like childish obsession and with everything Tim Burton and Garbage Pail Kids as say, Evanessance. Welsh seems to have something to say about life, love and death, and the tragic, beautiful continuum that exist between the trio. It's deep shit! It's a great Album.

This is not producitive!

In a world were drugs are destroying our youth, who would think this was appropriate?

Bump This! The Noisettes bring new Flava in ur ears (thanx Buster)!

The Noisettes are a great new band hailing from London,England. Their mix of punk, doo-wop and pop, may sound like a familiar recipe(Amy Winehouse)but the group manages to create a spectacular new sound all their own. They released their Debut in "What's the Time Mr. Wolf" in 2007, and their follow-up set the radiant "Wild Young Hearts" have the band poised to be the next big thing, lets hope if it happens they don't lose all the things that makes them worth blogging about in the first place!
